Coincident chronic lymphocytic leukemia and osteosclerotic multiple myeloma.
We report the first occurrence of chronic lymphatic leukemia (CLL) and osteosclerotic multiple myeloma (MM) in the same patient. The surface Ig of the CLL and the monoclonal serum Ig had different heavy and light chain classes, and CLL lymphocytes failed to secrete the monoclonal Ig in short-term culture. We conclude that they were entirely separate malignancies occuring together by chance.
متن کاملChronic lymphocytic leukemia, biology, new diagnosis and treatment: review article
Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is a malignancy of B CD5+cells and is the most common type of leukemia in adults. The disease is more common in men over 50 years in western countries. CLL is associated with defective apoptosis in B cells. CLL was traditionally regarded as a disease that occurs before naïve B cells meet the antigen in the lymph nodes. Laboratory diagnosis requires white blood...
متن کاملMicroenvironment and Immunology RANKL Expression, Function, and Therapeutic Targeting in Multiple Myeloma and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia
Bone destruction is a prominent feature of multiple myeloma, but conflicting data exist on the expression and pathophysiologic involvement of the bone remodeling ligand RANKL in this disease and the potential therapeutic benefits of its targeted inhibition. Here, we show that RANKL is expressed by primary multiple myeloma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells, whereas release of soluble ...
متن کاملUse of hair coloring products and the risk of lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
OBJECTIVES Hair coloring products are widely used and contain components that are mutagenic and carcinogenic. An association between occupational exposure to hair coloring products and hematopoietic cancers has been reported, but the risk for these cancers among users has not been carefully evaluated. METHODS We conducted a population-based, case-control study with telephone interviews from 3...
